«Geographical position of the usa»
План урока по английскому языку в 8г классе.
Тема: «Geographical position of the USA».

Место урока: продолжает изучение темы «Great Discoveries» и является уроком повторения грамматики «Passive Voice»
Цели:
1) учебная – ориентация на формирование навыков и умений иноязычной
речевой деятельности (аудирование, говорение, чтение про себя,
диалогическая и монологическая речь);
2) воспитательная – воспитание толерантности, уважения к культуре другой
страны;
3) общеобразовательная – развитие лингвистического мышления,
расширение кругозора по теме.
Оснащение урока: доски, цветной мел, лексические и грамматические карты, магнитофон, раздаточный материал (карточки с грамматическими заданиями и диалогами), проектор, ноутбук.

2. Приветствие учителя
3. Проверка домашнего задания. Учащиеся отвечают на вопросы учителя по содержанию текста, прочитанного дома, выполняют проверочную грамматическую работу по теме «Passive Voice».
4.Практика аудирования (речь учителя, подводящая итог грамматической теме с переходом на лексическую).
5. Фронтальная работа, полилог с учащимися, в ходе которого они отвечают на вопросы учителя: general conversation:

Is this country big or small?
Is it bigger than Russia?
6. Введение новых лексических единиц и географических названий перед чтением текста «The USA»:

7. Pupils read the text about the USA. The text is divided into 2 parts and there are
2 teams in the class. Each team reads only one part of the text.
Then pupils sum up the information and write it down in their note-books
according to the plan on the blackboard. They ask questions to each other.
8. Pupils answer teacher’s questions and discuss the topic «Geographical position
of the USA». They use the map of the country.
Questions:
Where is the USA situated?
What is the total area of the USA?
What countries does the USA border on?
How many states does the USA consist of?
What is the population of the USA?
What mountains in the USA do you know?
What are the largest rivers?
Is the climate of the country mild?
9. Pupils retell the topic without any notes according to the plan on the blackboard.
(2 pupils). They use the map of the country.
10. Listening 1: «The Grand Canyon».
The USA is a very beautiful country. There are a lot of parks, forests and
wild lands where you can enjoy the beauty of wild America. The Grand Canyon
is among the most famous.
Questions after listening:
What is the Grand Canyon?
What river formed the Canyon?
How old is the Canyon?
Is it big? How long is it? How deep is it?
Do animals live in the Canyon?
How does it look like at sunrise and sunset?
11. Listening 2: «A trip to the USA».
Questions after listening:
When are they leaving?
What cities are they going to visit?
How long are they going to stay in New York?
How long are they going to spend on their trip?
What interesting places are they going to visit in New York?
What interesting places would children like to visit besides the places they are going to visit?
12. Dialogues.
Pupils act out the situations:
1. You are a Russian reporter. You are in the USA.
Ask questions to the local geographical society member about:
the number of states in the USA;
the waters the USA is washed by;
the relief of the USA;
the number of people living in the USA;
the greatest rivers in the USA.
2. You are a Russian student. You are in the USA at the
Scientific conference.
Ask American student about:
the biggest mountains in the USA;
the size of the Grand Canyon;
the “New World”;
the big “melting pot”;
a mixture of customs and traditions.
13. Hometask:
Choose the place or the city in the USA you would like to visit, describe it and explain to your classmates why it attracts you
(make a report, 4-7min).
Be ready to speak about – the US geographical outlook,
- the US relief, climate, rivers.
14.Подведение итогов, оценка учителем работы учащихся на уроке.
