Hello, my dear friends! How are you getting on? Today we are going to talk about cinema and TV films. Cinema and TV films have become an important part of our lives. But not everyone knows when and how cinematography appeared.
-What do you know about it?
-Do you know who make the first film?
-Who were the inventors of the cinema?
-When did the Lumiere brothers invent the first film projector and motion-picture camera?
-What do you know about Hollywood?
-Why is Hollywood called the capital of filmed entertainment?
Ex. 1(3), p. 178 (Student’s book).
Pupils read the transcription of the following words and expressions. Pupils repeat.
filmed entertainment dark truth
to shoot a film/ to make film making process
director corporations
studio melodrama
silent films western
black-and-white films comedy
full-length films the range of genres
colour film paradise of sun and palm trees
genre façade

1. Relative clauses.
Teacher. A clause is a part of a sentence. A relative clause tells us which person or thing the speaker means:
We use who in a relative clause when we are talking about people. We use who instead of he/ she/ they.
Example : (he)
-The man who lives next door is very relative clause friendly.
-We know a lot of people who (they) live in London.
-An architect is someone who designs buildings.
b) Teacher. When we are talking about things, we use that in a relative clause. We use that
instead of it/ they.
Where are the eggs? – They were in the fridge.
Where are the eggs that were in the fridge?
Example;
I don’t like stories that have unhappy endings.
The window that was broken has now been repaired.
Teacher. You can also use which for things (but not for people). And remember that we use
who / that / which instead of he / she / they / it.
Do you know the man who lives next door? (not – who be lives)
Teacher. Make sentences. Fill in who / that /which and add the necessary verbs from the box below.
to be to make to speak to recommend
to see to be to be
The women / a doctor .
Ann works for a company / washing machines .
Jack / German / as a tourist guide .
We stayed at the Hilton Hotel / Ann / to us .
That morning I met my friend / I / for ages.
There are some words / difficult to pronounce .
